Job Duties

The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as a Cloud Technical Services Director with the Core Infrastructure Services team.

The position is responsible for supporting technical delivery and solution services within the Enterprise to include cloud-hosted services.

Reporting to the Chief of Core Infrastructure Services, this position will be responsible for the organization working with VITA suppliers to review, oversee, and provide direction on enterprise and cloud-based initiatives, with direct oversight of the projects, operations, and procedures required to be implemented to support.

Collaboration with the Security and Architecture teams to ensure security of the Cloud services environments.

Candidate should possess leadership skills to develop and oversee standards and initiatives to drive the efficient delivery of solutions via the Service Portfolio Lifecycle process, which will involve conducting architecture reviews of enterprise and cloud services, and proposed architecture or services changes.

The candidate is accountable for the review of projects associated with enterprise, cloud and hosting services proposed by the tower suppliers and used by VITA and the executive branch agencies of the Commonwealth for solution and security compliance validation.

Responsibilities include:

Support oversight of SaaS, Managed Cloud Suppliers (MCS) providers as well as oversight of the operations of our infrastructure provider team(s) managing the enterprise cloud environments.

Strategically position VITA for ‘next’ step initiatives to ensure currency of the enterprise.

Strategically position VITA to offer agency needed solutions via best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Documented experience leading diverse teams delivering enterprise solutions.

• Documented experience with Private and public cloud architecture, operations and management in a hybrid cloud environment.

• Experience performing reviews of proposed changes & projects relative to the security of an IT environment.

• Experience in the development and presentation of Cloud information security & architecture, Cloud policies, standards and procedures.

• Experience in monitoring IT environments for compliance with information security architecture policies and standards.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills required.

• Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and acquire new skills/knowledge to meet customer needs.

• Thorough understanding of customers priorities and the business criticality of platforms, applications and services.

• Comprehensive experience in IT industry.

• Leadership Skills: A self-starter who can excel in a team environment of an aggressively growing and dynamic enterprise.

• Demonstrated ability to bring problems to resolution regardless of differences and level of seniority of those involved.

• Azure, AWS or other public cloud deployment and support knowledge required.

• Must have strong hands-on data center and IT infrastructure architecture and design experience.

• Experience managing key vendor relationships with demonstrated benefits to the business through strong relationship management.

• Skilled in oral and written communication as it pertains to technical information.

• Skilled in interpreting complex information and providing informed analysis.

• Proven ability to lead and manage teams and projects.
