This may be the perfect opportunity for you! The Oregon Department of Corrections is looking to fill new positions in our Health Care Unit, Assistant Medical Services Administrator.
This position is approved for a hybrid work schedule, offering flexibility with remote work, while requiring the ability to report to an ODOC location nearest you in Oregon as needed.
About the Job – Your Role
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the comprehensive health care delivery programs of Oregon Department of Corrections’ institutions located throughout the state. This position directly supervises the Medical Services Managers by developing program standards and best practices to ensure health care is being delivered in accordance with Administrative Rules, ODOC Policies, Health Service Policies, and standards set forth by the national Commission on Correctional health Care in such a manner that the care delivered is timely, efficient, clinically appropriate, and meets community standards.
Persons in this position are responsible for the orderly operation of all health care programs in each of the Department's correctional facilities on a daily basis and must be capable of taking direct command of any health care program on an emergency basis or in a disaster. Employee in this position must be able to travel from one geographic location to another in order to direct and supervise the health care program and must be capable of performing patient care at any time. Persons in this position are on-call every day at all hours and carry a state cell phone at all times. Persons in this position are responsible for the custody and supervision of AICs receiving health care services.
This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of management experience.
OR
Two years of management experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Special Qualifications
- Unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse License
- Valid CPR card
Preference will be given to those with
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing
- At least 3 years of nursing in a correctional setting.
- Knowledge and experience working with women’s health care needs.
