About the Role
As the Senior Engineer, Acoustic Design, you will be part of a team developing the next generation of audio products. You will be responsible for performing design, optimization and testing of headphones, microphone arrays, smart speakers, TVs, smart phones and tablets. The use of current acoustic simulation software as well as acoustic testing hardware and software will be a large portion of your job activities.
Your Team
You will report directly to the Director, Engineering for Harman Embedded Audio.
What You Will Do
Participate in the design and development of new technology and products for HEA relying heavily on analytical modeling efforts
Help determine the feasibility of new technology, ideas, and products proposed or ideated
Optimize prototype and/or design parameters to maximize performance -- one objective being the reduction of the development cycle time
Predict the performance of new or modified product prototypes -- prior to their fabrication and testing
Help plan experiments to prove in, or troubleshoot, new or existing products
Play a major role in the data analysis of measured results
Plan a significant role in the ideation of new technology, or troubleshooting of existing manufactured products for HEA
Be active in the creation of intellectual property for HEA
Provide specialized applications engineering support, as needed, in conjunction with the HEA Sales Team and/or factories
What You Need
Bachelor’s degree in acoustic, mechanical or electrical engineering or related field, OR 8 years’ experience in Acoustics engineering in lieu of a 4-year degree.
5 years’ experience in Acoustics engineering or related field
Experience with SoundCheck, HATS, GRAS
What is Nice to Have
Master’s Degree in Acoustics or related field
Experience with headphone design and testing
Experience with Smart IOT devices (acoustics, system architecture)
What Makes You Eligible
Be willing to travel up to 10% domestic and international travel
This is a hybrid role and you must be willing to work both remotely and on-site at our Northridge, CA office.
Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
