Description

We are recruiting a Full-Time Infusion Pharmacy Technician. This position will be scheduled for regular hours Monday through Friday at our Long-Term Care Pharmacy in Salisbury, NC; our pharmacy is not open to the public.

This position requires a high level of responsibility and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Technician certification is preferred but not required. This pharmacy has a professional and creative work environment with a positive team atmosphere. It offers a competitive salary, $18-25 per hour based on experience and credentials, and a benefits package.  

 

Duties:

  • Preparing sterile medications using aseptic technique.
  • Infusion therapy inventory and supply management.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Unit-dose medication preparation in other areas in the pharmacy when needed and other daily pharmacy technician tasks as needed.

Experience:

  • Compounding sterile medications in a clean room is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of USP 797 standards.
  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.

Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility for this position is performing sterile infusion compounding.  Based on daily infusion therapy volume and workload it may include all functions of a pharmacy technician including packaging medications, restocking shelves, checking pharmaceutical expiration dates, maintaining appropriate inventory, and non-sterile compounding.  This position also includes managing infusion medication and supply inventory.  One is expected to maintain his/her competency in sterile compounding.

Position Relationships:

  1. Must exhibit teamwork and work well with other pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.
  2. Reports to Pharmacy Technician Supervisor or Pharmacy Operations Manager.

Requirements:

Required:

  1. Prepare sterile infusion medications using aseptic technique
  2. The employee must be able to multi-task, work independently, complete basic calculations, and think critically. 
  3. Must be registered with State Board of Pharmacy (as required)

Preferred but not required:

  1. Compounding sterile medications in a cleanroom
  2. Pharmacy certification (PTCB)
  3. Sterile compounding pharmacy certification
