About the Role:
The API Platform team builds high-traffic, internet-facing services that power Twitch websites, mobile clients, and third-party integrations. Our GraphQL edge service is one of the biggest in the industry based on performance, throughput, and sheer number of downstream services it uses. The API team manages messaging platforms that delivers 1B+ messages daily. You will join a team focused on building scalable, low-latency platforms that empower our teams and third-party developers to deliver features that inspire, intrigue, and enthuse our customers.
We're looking for people with a demonstrated interest in architecting scalable, low latency and fault tolerant systems. Using Go, you will build API's and asynchronous services. You have experience building, and releasing high-quality production services and platforms. You'll shape the work of your peers, and report to the Engineering Director for API Platforms. We are open to this role being in San Francisco, Seattle, or Irvine, CA.
You Will:
- Work with multiple product and client teams to bring to market new experiences to empower and delight Twitch users.
- Work on a high throughput, low latency platform
- Become an expert at building secure services at scale on AWS infrastructure.
- Contribute to architectural, design, and process discussions involved in building Twitch's APIs and asynchronous services.
- You'll identify and uphold engineering best practices.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Irvine, CA, USA | San Francisco, CA, USA | Seattle, WA, USA
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- A degree in Computer Science, a related Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years work experience developing high throughput, low latency, high availability services.
- Experience developing with static-typed languages.
- Are a bar-raiser for quality, whether in code, infrastructure, docs, or as a team member.
- Experience writing high-quality code.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
