About the role

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant will support the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records and performing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting functions. This role will assist with general ledger activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting, while adhering to all accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial statements. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with general ledger maintenance and prepare journal entries
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and reconciliations
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Maintain prepaid expense schedules and assist with balance sheet reconciliations
  • Compile financial data and assist in preparing internal financial reports and statements
  • Perform account analysis and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Process daily bank deposits via remote scanner
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation and records
  • Participate in annual audits, 1099 preparation, and other compliance-related activities
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments to support financial operations

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience preferred
  • Multi-site or multi-company accounting experience a plus
  • Healthcare or related industry experience a plus

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two year associate degree in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting preferred
  • Solid knowledge of general accepted accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft software and Yardi
  • Excellent computer skills to include Word, Outlook and Excel; accounting software experience
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and follow up skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
  • The ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what is necessary to ensure the finance department runs smoothly; assisting in areas outside your scope of responsibility when necessary
