Lead Neurodiagnostic Technologist (EEG/EMG)

The Lead Neurodiagnostic Technologist provides expert level neurodiagnostic testing and serves as a clinical and operational leader for the EEG and EMG services. This role supports high quality patient care, staff competency, workflow efficiency, and regulatory compliance while acting as a clinical resource and liaison between technologists, providers, and leadership. The position reports to the Supervisor of Nuclear Medicine and the Director of Radiology, working collaboratively with and under the clinical direction of the Chief Neurologist.

Job Description:

Clinical Duties:

• Perform and oversee high-quality EEG and EMG studies, including routine, prolonged, ambulatory, and stat examinations as applicable.
• Ensure adherence to established protocols, best practices, and professional standards for neurodiagnostic testing.
• Assess patient appropriateness, safety, and ability to tolerate procedures; communicate concerns to ordering providers/Neurologists as needed.
• Troubleshoot complex technical or patient-related issues during testing.
• Ensure accurate documentation, study labeling, and data integrity.

Leadership & Staff Support:

• Serve as the lead clinical resource for EEG/EMG technologists.
• Provide day to day guidance, mentoring, and technical support to staff.
• Assist with onboarding, training, competency validation, and continuing education.
• Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and patient-centered care.
• Act as a point of escalation for workflow, quality, or patient safety concerns.

Operational & Quality Oversight:

• Assist with daily staffing, scheduling, and coverage to meet service demands.
• Support workflow optimization to ensure efficient patient throughput.
• Oversee supply management for EEG and EMG services, including inventory control, ordering, and cost-conscious utilization.
• Serve as the primary clinical contact for vendor relationships, including product support, troubleshooting, and in-service coordination
• Participate in equipment research, evaluation, and selection, including review of new technologies and clinical applicability.
• Collaborate with leadership on capital planning, equipment replacement, and justification.
• Assist with equipment maintenance coordination, service contracts, and downtime mitigation.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and performance metrics.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and institutional standards.
• Assist with equipment oversight, troubleshooting, and coordination of maintenance or repairs.
• Collaborate with leadership on policy development and updates.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Serve as a liaison between technologists, neurologists, referring providers, nursing units, and leadership.
• Communicate effectively regarding patient preparation, scheduling constraints, and study limitations.
• Support timely study completion and interpretation workflows.
• Graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program or equivalent training.
• Current ABRET credential in EEG and/or EMG (e.g., R. EEG T., R. EP T., R. NCS.T or equivalent as applicable).
• Minimum 2-3 years of neurodiagnostic experience with EEG and/or EMG.
• Strong knowledge of neurodiagnostic protocols, equipment, and patient safety standards.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Dual-credentialed in EEG and EMG (preferred).
• Experience in a lead, charge, or supervisory role (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred).

Pay Range:

$33.08 - $44.51
