Manager Data Science - Analytics
Partner Product Analytics and Experimentation (Partner PAX) enables our product and technology partners to make data informed decisions, optimize product performance, and identify opportunities for improvement in the service of impactful product strategy, better user experiences and accelerating growth of the EG business through our expertise in data discovery, experimentation and predictive and prescriptive analytics. Within the Partner PAX organization, our Marketplace Experience & Trust team helps build a safe and trusted marketplace for both our travelers and partners where suppliers are committed to delivering safe, positive and memorable experiences for our travelers.
This role leads a team that is integral not only to measuring the impact of initiatives designed to ensure and improve trust in the marketplace, but also to providing research, insights and recommendations for opportunities for improvement.
What you will do:
Communicate team goals, progress and outputs within and across teams
Communicate across various levels of the organization; influence partners and senior leaders with audience appropriate messages and relevant information
Contribute to cross team collaboration and leads alignment of work with broader initiatives
Work with staff to develop individual development plans addressing employee needs and meeting team goals
Provide constructive feedback to encourage ongoing development
Clarify roles, accountabilities and decision-making among team members
Help team members prioritize and link daily work to broader objectives
Manage workloads of team members ensuring that they are fully deployed and skills are matched to their work requirements
Frame Expedia's most complex business problems as an analytics problem and concrete set of analytical tasks
Display advanced domain (i.e. travel, online retail) knowledge, business acumen (understanding the underlying business objectives), curiosity and critical reasoning skills
Pick analytically valid approaches, appropriate in terms of level of effort, favoring iterative delivery that solves for the objective, not the ask (i.e. not just order-taking)
Manage stakeholders with frequent communication, expectation management, meeting deadlines and minimizing surprises
Write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized and modular with good naming convention
Apply fundamental machine learning models, algorithms and techniques using standard libraries to tackle business problems
Apply a range of common statistical methods to business problems
Understand model design and explain selection, including general approach, choice of algorithm and data sources
Apply data visualization principles consistently resulting in clear and consistent outcomes
Who you are:
Bachelor's, Master’s, PhD or Equivalent Experience; Mathematics, Science, Statistics degree or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience is applicable.
Deliver work for several well-defined projects at once with clear oversight from more senior management and partnered with product, development and data science counterparts.
Possess significant experience in at least one major ML programming language (Python, Scala, etc.) and familiar with others.
Experienced in people management either directly or cross-functionally
Experience having led analytics at 3 multi-quarter projects (someone seen as analytics lead individual contributor).
Participate in peer’s performance reviews by providing technical and functional assessment and feedback.
The total cash range for this position in Austin is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
