Summary of Duties:
Responsible for supervising Utility and Grounds and Nursery Specialist in the maintenance of 75 acres of institution grounds and landscapes and 35 miles of sidewalks. Provide technical assistance in a variety of areas including, but not limited to, planning and developing landscaping and gardening projects, snow removal, work in constructing, maintaining or repairing buildings, facilities, utility tunnels, sewer systems, grounds and equipment. Coordinate and work with other trades in support of new or remodel construction.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$3,558 to $4,740 | Range 41 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Two years' experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, nursery, parks, or related activity; at least one year must include lead or supervisory experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Possession of a current Public Pesticide Applicators license, or ability to obtain by time of hire.
Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary, including weekends and/or holidays.
Ability to respond to an emergency outside normal business hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years' experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, nursery, parks, or related activity; at least one year must include supervisory experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
