Job Summary:

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our Investments Business Unit. The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze, communicate financial results, and assist in developing story lines in support of team deliverables. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of financial principles.

 

This position is a hybrid role, meaning your schedule may consist of time in an office setting and time working remotely from your home. The hybrid model is intended to provide greater flexibility – and will mean something different to each team, job and employee. Office presence is driven by the nature of the work and team needs. You’ll work from home for the remainder of the time you’re not in the office. This position is eligible for a monthly connectivity reimbursement to offset the costs of internet and phone expenses.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the internal management reporting and analysis activities for Allstate’s investment portfolio by preparing analysis, compiling reports, developing story lines and assisting in updating presentations in support of team deliverables 
  • Identify trends requiring additional analysis or investigation and drive conversations to understand implications
  • Identify discrepancies and errors in financial data and work collaboratively with other teams to resolve issues promptly
  • Understand monthly & quarterly timeline with goal to meet or exceed deliverables; communicate challenges and roadblocks to deliverable timing with the rest of the team to determine potential workarounds
  • Ability to react and update processes to changing requirements from management which could include additional portfolio or asset class breakouts
  • Able to work with large amounts of data in a controlled environment and ensure the accuracy of the results
  • Effective time management and organization skills with a proven ability to multi-task
  • Oral and written communication skills to partner with employees both internal and external to finance as well as interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment
  • Inspire trust and confidence in clients through strategic and diplomatic handling of relationships
  • Participate on special projects and analyses as requested by management
  • Prepare and maintain on-going documentation of analytical processes, methodologies, and associated process controls

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 or more years of related experience 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Experience with data analysis and data validation tools
  • Ability to use data and analytical tools to track and report on a company's financial performance. Power BI is used extensively to create dashboards that track key financial metrics and SQL to query databases and extract relevant data
  • Some experience with data analysis tools such as SQL and programming languages, such as Python or R, is a plus
  • Some knowledge of data mining techniques and algorithms to identify patterns and trends in data
  • Financial modeling: The ability to create and use financial models to forecast future financial performance
  • Proficient in analyzing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and identifying discrepan
