Position Summary

Reviews and determines the accuracy and technical ability of the estimator for vehicle damage estimations and total loss evaluations virtually. Participates in focused reviews regarding material damage claims.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conducts targeted vehicle re-inspections (virtually) of repairable loss claims for our Direct Repair Facilities (DRF) members, staff appraisers, non-member shops and independent appraisers. Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the review of damage estimates and vehicles to determine the accuracy and technical ability of the estimator.

 

Participates in focused reviews in order to scrutinize the work product of an office during a designated period of time. Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the review of files, re-inspection (virtually) of vehicles and examination of the use of salvers and other material damage vendors to ensure that proper procedures have been followed.

 

Confirms accuracy of total loss evaluations by re-inspecting (virtually) vehicle salvage and reviewing evaluation to ensure that the vehicle matches the description and condition allowance.

 

Recommends policy and/or procedure changes related to the repair process as appropriate. Notifies the appropriate Branch Office of any modifications or changes to the repair process and/or estimates to help ensure the branch achieves the appropriate settlement allowance. Maintains a monitored diary system to provide follow up on refunds and estimate alterations that were identified during the re-inspection.

 

Reviews rental allowances authorized by the DRF and staff appraisers to ensure effective cost control practices are being maintained.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (cont'd if applicable)

Identifies material damage claims handling problems related to fraud, improper estimation or total loss evaluation practices and faulty repairs. Prepares estimates and evaluations to provide a comparison as required.

 

This position will complete audits using the current audit tools to calibrate with the branch supervisors.

 

General calibration meetings may be required with each branch or state as well as participation in remediation planning.

 

Prepares re-inspection reports for management. Provides results from the repairable and total loss inspections.

 

Assists claims management in providing procedural training for DRF to ensure uniformity and compliance with the guideli
