Your Role
The Special Populations Unit (SPU), housed within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, provides oversight and strategic support for vulnerable groups identified by CalAIM. Through cross-functional collaboration and data-driven approaches, SPU advances equitable access to care and drives improved health outcomes by advocating for inclusive, person-centered solutions.
The Project Coordinator, Experienced, will report directly to the Program Manager, Principal and play a vital role in supporting both strategic and operational initiatives. This position will focus on enhancing care delivery and workflow efficiency for Special Populations, including Birthing and Hospice Populations, while also contributing to Cost of Health Care initiatives aimed at reducing unnecessary spend and improving system-wide value.
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Provide Special Populations support by enhancing workflows and care coordination for Birthing and Hospice Populations and other priority member cohorts; streamline communications to improve service delivery and expand access
- Support Cost of Health Care Initiatives through tracking and coordination of cost-reduction efforts; assist in identifying inefficiencies and implementing value-driven strategies
- Provide project & program coordination by aligning and integrating projects from initiation to delivery; collaborate with partners to ensure timely, budget-conscious execution with measurable outcomes
- Provide operational & administrative support by managing team agendas, action items, and calendars; develop presentations, data analysis, and workplans with minimal supervision; support Program Managers with provider group deliverables
- Provide analytical & problem-solving skills by executing moderately complex tasks using independent judgment; perform root cause analysis and produce presentation-ready outputs using Excel and other tools & manage the design, development and/or implementation of new or enhanced systems projects or programs
Your Knowledge and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Requires at least 3 years of prior relevant experience
- Familiarity with health plan operations, including quality programs (e.g., HEDIS), rating systems, and provider network structures preferred
- Experience working with population health, care coordination, or social determinants of health programs preferred
Knowledge of project management principles, data systems, and performance benchmarks across healthcare lines of business preferred
- Requires strong computer skills, demonstrated mastery of all MS Office products (including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word); ability to execute data analysis in Excel to drive root cause analysis and produce PowerPoint presentation deliverables
- Requires effective written and oral communications, including an ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources
- Requires ability to establish and meet deadlines; beginner to intermediate project management skills for managing deadlines with small to medium teams
- Desired strong, collaborative problem-solving skills; able to work with multiple stakeholders
