Job Summary

We’re looking for a full-time, staff Billing Analyst, GS to join our Day & Zimmermann team. The Billing Analyst is responsible for creating billing transactions in alignment with U.S. Government contract terms, including cost-reimbursable, Time & Material (T&M), and fixed-price agreements. This role works closely with the operational and finance teams to validate customer billings and limit the invoice rejection rate to reduce unbilled revenue.

Responsibilities

As the Billing Analyst, GS, here’s the work you’ll do: 

  • Prepares a monthly reconciliation of customer billings to ensure consistency with project accounting and revenue targets.
  • Works with the finance team to support month-end close activities. Documents and refines billing workflows to support automation and process efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains detailed billing schedules and invoices in alignment with contract terms.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of billed services and goods through billing data analysis and resolves discrepancies through proactive evaluations. Ensures compliance with contract requirements and internal control standards.
  • Collaborates with Finance leadership to ensure billing activity aligns with audit and control expectations. Contributes to the design and monitoring of process improvement initiatives.

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

This role is for you if you have these skills: 

  • Strong understanding of government contract billing requirements, including GAAP, FAR/DFARS, and applicable labor law. Ability to prepare, review, and reconcile complex financial transactions across multiple contract types (CPFF, T&M, FFP).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial processes, identify inefficiencies, and support the implementation of improvements that enhance billing accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP, with the ability to navigate project accounting modules and extract data for analysis and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas), with working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, and other Microsoft suite applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications

And if you have these qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
  • Experience with SAP, PowerBI, CostPoint, Vantagepoint, and Dassian.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in billing, finance operations, or project accounting, preferably within a government contracting environment.
  • Great attitude and team player. 
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening process.
