This position serves as frontline support for international students, staff, faculty, post-docs, and exchange visitors at the University of Tennessee. In collaboration with International House personnel, this position assists with customer service, greeting, and initial advising of international visitors to the International House. In addition, this position serves as an administrative liaison handling mail, appointments, equipment and supply requisition, and data entry.
Front-line Immigration Customer Service
This includes welcoming persons to the International House, answering the phone, providing accurate direction to resources, and providing basic advisements to F-1 students. In addition, this includes overseeing the pickup and drop-off of critical immigration documents and the facilitation of appointment scheduling with Scholar and Student advisors.
Administrative Liaison Work
This includes working with the Director of the International House, the Executive Director of the Center for Global Engagement, and the Director for International Student and Scholar Services to facilitate critical administrative functions such as the planning of multi-unit events, data-entry, requisition of supplies and equipment, and coordination of other administrative functions as required.
Programming
This includes the development and execution of programs, initiatives, training, and outreach to
international students and campus stakeholders, which promote better service to and retention of
international students on-campus.
Participation in Workgroups, Meetings, and Professional Development
This includes time spent participating in required workgroups, internal and external meetings, and participation in professional organizations. This also includes necessary regulatory review, knowledge updates, and training.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- A Bachler’s degree.
- Experience:
- Exposure to a higher education work environment.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
Other Conditions of Employment
Valid Driver’s License. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident in order to be cleared as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience:
- One to two years of experience in higher education. This experience can include internships and time spent as a graduate assistant.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Skill using BANNER and the Student Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS).
- Knowledge of international office best practices.

Compensation and Benefits
- UT market range: MR05
- Anticipated hiring range: $30,750 - $40,000
- Regular Full Time Non Exempt
