The DMSc principal faculty is responsible for coordinating and teaching online courses asynchronously using the standard MBKU Learning Management System (LMS), advising/evaluating students, and participating in program management including oversight and coordination of adjunct faculty within a concentration, and the continuous evaluation and assessment of student performance. The principal faculty will also provide input to the program director about adjunct faculty performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership/Service
- Provide input to Program Director to advance the program’s mission in teaching, scholarship, service, and patient care.
- Identify and propose solutions to improve program operations, growth, and effectiveness.
- Provide oversight and mentorship as needed for adjunct faculty; act as role-model
- Actively participate and serve on appropriate academic committees, i.e., faculty senate, curriculum committee, etc.
- Academic engagement
- Develop and deliver course content in an online, asynchronous format
- Proactively facilitate student engagement via discussion boards and other written communication; maintains an active presence on the LMS
- Work independently and within a team.
- Provide timely grading of student assignments including constructive feedback
- Proactively initiate and maintain regular communication with students
- Monitor student performance, provide remedial instruction as needed, and offer academic counseling and support as needed
- Ensure that both their courses, and (in collaboration with the program director) courses taught by adjunct faculty are in alignment with program standards and learning outcomes
- Attend required faculty training and development sessions
- Interprofessional education and Clinical practice
- Stay alert to and seek opportunities to collaborate with university and other partners to develop interprofessional education and interdisciplinary scholarship opportunities for faculty and students.
- Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility
- Where appropriate, ensure instruction includes consideration of multicultural factors and how historic and current disparities may provide additional context for the lessons
- Support and Advocacy of the profession
- Represent the Program and University before internal and external stakeholders, including alumni, professional organizations, and potential students and faculty.
- Participate in program events, including scholarship ceremonies, and commencement activities.
- Demonstrate evidence-based practice through inquiry, assessment, research, scholarship, and appropriate use of current evidence to inform professional activities.
