Sr. Malware Analyst

Note: This position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Aperio Global is seeking a Malware Analyst who will play a critical role in supporting the Mission Assurance (MA) objectives by facilitating, evaluating, and reporting on malware activities in support of cyberspace operations. This role will require the candidate to provide requirements and integration support for malware analysis, update, and report on Workflow Management System (WMS) malware tasks, and actively participate in technical working groups to influence malware analysis and exploitation strategies. Additionally, the analyst will support the development and certification of Security System Plans (SSP) and accreditation of new malware analysis systems. They will perform various levels of malware analysis and employ best-practice malware analytics methodologies while maintaining oversight and governance for malware throughout the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN).

Responsibilities
• Possess mid to senior-level experience as a Malware Analyst with expertise in cutting-edge cyberspace technologies.
• Apply knowledge of governance, policy oversight, and business practices related to Malware Analysis activities.
• Work under consultative direction towards predetermined Mission Assurance goals and objectives, often initiating assignments independently.
• Develop, research, and maintain proficiency in tools, techniques, countermeasures, and trends in computer and network vulnerabilities, data hiding, and encryption.
• Conduct in-depth detailed research on software and methodologies to build defensive and offensive technical capabilities for USCYBERCOM.
• Perform system analysis, reverse engineering, and best-practice malware analytics methodologies on Windows, Android, or UNIX-based platforms, often without access to source code or documentation.
• Possess comprehensive programming skills, especially in C/C++ and Assembly language, Windows internal C/C++, UNIX/Linux, or mobile (Android) platform, exploit development, and related disciplines.
• Create malware detection topologies and conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests of information systems.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

• 10+ years of experience as a Malware Analyst.

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
• Minimum DOD 8140/DOD 8570 IAM Level III Certification (CSSP Manager).
• Proficiency in source code, hex, binary, regular expressions, data correlation, and analysis including firewall, network flow, and system logs.
• Familiarity with security concepts, protocols, processes, architectures, and tools, including authentication and access control technologies, incident handling, etc.
• Coordinate efforts to develop and analyze Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO), Computer Network Exploitation (CNE), and Offensive Cyberspace Operations (OCO) solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Desired skills
Knowledge of Metasploit, x86, x64, penetration testing, Python.
Experience as a BSides organizer and participation in Capture the Flag competitions.
