Job purpose

The Alternator Electronics Product Engineer will be responsible for understanding the alternator regulator and rectifier bridge needs for future high efficiency passenger car and commercial vehicle designs as well as maintaining and updating existing regulator and rectifier bridge products as required. This person will also be responsible for the full alternator design as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experience with automotive or commercial alternator designs.  Experience with EM and FEA analysis tools
  • Understand the available regulator ASICs in the market today and able to work with regulator electronic supplier to design these regulator ASICs into production regulators.
  • Work with diode suppliers to select the appropriate diodes for various alternator efficiency design needs.
  • Experience working with Team Center PLM.
  • Ability to take product requirements and create new product configurations and/or identify existing products to meet these requirements
  • Work with assembly plant manufacturing engineering, component purchasing, SDE, and suppliers resolving component Technical Feasibility Commitments (TFCs)
  • Submit and track Change Requests (CRs) as appropriate to update documentation based on supplier feedback
  • Review supplier PPAP documentation for compliance to requirements
  • Confers with other engineers to resolve issues
  • Identifies problems and offers solutions
  • Participates in and leads cross-functional Project team
  • Supports applications team to identify appropriate solutions for new customer requests
  • Provides the engineering design BOM (Bill of Material) for new opportunities
  • Works with purchasing with evaluating potential new suppliers for technical capabilities
  • Works with quality organization to pro-actively ensure product quality and reliability
  • Works with Supplier Development Engineers to resolve supplier issues and non-conformances
  • Works with commadity buyer to identify alternatives when material issues or shortages occur
  • Works with plant product engineering for cost reduction initiatives
  • Able to work with global team supporting starter and alternator products

What we’re looking for

  •  Bachelors degree in Engineering required, Masters degree preferred.
  •  3+ years of experience with similar products.
