About the role

Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Patient Access Manager, Hospital to join our team!  Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day. 

Position Summary:

This leader is tasked with managing and leading strategy for the inpatient, outpatient and emergency registration, authorization and financial counseling departments in a 24 hour, 7 days a week environment. In this role, they are expected to organize, direct and control the daily operations of the inpatient, outpatient hospital based departments and ED registration and financial counseling departments in order to meet the needs of all customers and support Hospital mission and vision; to supervise the selection, training, evaluation, and termination of employees; to identify and improve inefficiencies and create operational enhancements ensuring policy and regulatory compliance ; to develop and manage registration standards for Hospital; to serve as a liaison with hospital staff and promote maximum growth and development of each employee; to participate in strategic planning, both long and short term; and to perform related duties as assigned. To continually look for and support process improvement throughout the department and hospital as it relates to the revenue cycle. To mentor and support the growth of staff as well as select new employees who fit the needs of department growth.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

  • At least three years’ experience in hospital registration, admitting or financial services including two or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, organizational management or any related field.  Five (5) years management/supervisory experience may substitute for BA degree.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • MNsure Certified

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of hospital and ambulatory care policies and procedures as it pertains to patient access and patient financial services functions.
  • Knowledge of registration processes, financial counseling processes both inpatient and outpatient, bed control protocols, prior authorization and the ability to trouble shoot through various operational concerns. 
  • Ability to supervise personnel. 
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other departments and outside government agencies. 
  • Ability to write effectively. 
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of people. 
  • Ability to speak with assurance and poise.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate a variety of tasks based on importance to customer satisfaction, patient/regulatory compliance, revenue cycle improvement, and hospital operations. 
  • Ability to set priorities and demonstrate effective time management techniques. 
  • Ability to problem solve complex issues between multiple departments and stakeholders. 
  • Knowledge of Hospital organizational structure and the structure of departments within the organization. 
  • Knowledge of the various Medical Assistance programs, Medicare programs and commercial insurance carriers. 
  • Ability to monitor operations/capital budgets. 
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships, lead through influence and establish lines of communication with all teams- providers, physicians, nurse managers, access supervisors and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

  • Experience working with registration, financial counseling, and authorizations in a clinic setting or hospital.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • EPIC proficiency specifically ADT/Prelude functions.
