Vanderlande is looking for an experienced Head of Indirect Spend to join our procurement leadership team, reporting directly to the CPO. In this high-profile role, you’ll manage and optimize over €350 million in indirect spend, leading strategic procurement initiatives that align with our global vision and fuel our business success. Our global procurement organization enables our projects and business functions by maximizing value and minimizing risks via the procurement of goods and services in the most smart, cost-effective and sustainable way. We ensure a resilient and competitive supplier ecosystem and aim to advance towards best-in-class practices, and ensure the organization is efficient, effective, and future-proof. Furthermore, our procurement organization plays an important role in Vanderlande's transformation from an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) to a Configure-to-Order (CTO) business model. This new model aims at enhancing value for its customers through increased standardization, scalability, and more competitive solutions. 

 

What will you be doing?​ 

In your role as Head of Indirect Spend, you'll be a change champion, responsible for setting up a new organizational unit and leading the establishment of the Indirect Spend domain as a new entity within Vanderlande. You will oversee and manage the procurement of all indirect goods and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and alignment with Vanderlande's strategic goals. You will lead both global and regional indirect spend teams and work closely with various departments (such as HR, IT, Facility Management) to enhance operational efficiency and drive innovation. 

 

Your responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for both central and regional indirect spend teams, ensuring cohesive operations and managing stakeholder relationships with budget owners such as IT, HR, Finance, and Facilities 

• Lead and cultivate a global and high-performing team, building category management capabilities, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement 

• Guide the development and implementation of best practices for indirect procurement that align with Vanderlande’s overall objectives and market best practices 

• Oversee the establishment of a solid supplier base, fostering strong relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and innovation in indirect spend 

• Serve as a key point of contact and support discussions and processes during negotiations or contentious situations with strategic suppliers  

• Support category managers by identify cost-saving opportunities and innovative solutions, as well as guide procurement process optimization initiatives for indirect categories to boost efficiency and value 

• For your team, support the definition of KPIs, oversee budget management, and report on performance to ensure transparency and alignment with business objectives  

• Provide strategic direction for the development and implementation of risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential procurement challenges, ensuring business continuity and compliance
