Head of Financial Controlling and Reporting

Oversee budget and forecast processes, monthly closing processes, steering of business, financial and expense performance, and capital management. Monitor all internal and external financial reporting, including reinsurance, investments, cash management and statutory reporting requirements. Primary point of contact or liaison with the Group Finance department. Key point of contact for auditors and examiners.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Controlling:
• Manage / review Annual Budget and Monthly Reforecast Processes, supervise the monthly analyzes and deviation to budget / forecast / prior years and review on a quarterly basis the results with heads of departments.
• Develop tools to analyze the expenses by department and steer the cost ratio (BW reports, cost centers)
• Produce monthly closing reports (check-points, quarterly pre-close, monthly financial and flash reports) and analyses of P&L
• Manage and update local and group reports with group standard KPIs, with the proper alignment of Cost Centers, and tracking newly created per Group Standards.
• Supervise the mo. close for Brazil and Canada, including coordination with the local finance team, monthly call
• Oversee Reinsurance closing process to ensure accuracy by Lines of Business and Attachment Year details to perform analysis and detail variances
• Collaboration with Actuarial, Reinsurance, Investments and Accounting to ensure accuracy of results both locally and in all accompanying system flows
Investment Close Management and Cash Management:
• Assist in investment accounting close, cash management, and presentations for Investment Committee and EH Group global investment team.
Financial Reporting:
• Facilitate / prepare deliverables for internal and external audit teams & regulators, and reinsurance panel.
• Provide support to CFO for Investment / Audit Committee, Reinsurance Committee and Rating Agency meetings
Regulatory Reporting:
• Review preparing and filing US and Canadian Annual and Quarterly statutory statement filings and various other filings.
Overall Management:
• Manage direct reports to provide an excellent level of service to both internal and external customers in respect of established deadlines; develop the people within team and foster collaboration with other departments.
• Recommend changes/continuous improvements to management reporting and analytics to better drive and steer results. Collaborate with and influence key leaders in the organization to improve results
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree. Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred.
• 7+ years’ experience in accounting field, preferable in Insurance Industry
• Managerial experience in corporate finance, strategic planning, accounting, budgeting and financial planning
• Deep expertise in FP&A
• Understanding of IFRS, U.S. GAAP and/or SAP
• Ability to conduct or direct research to keep up with changing accounting and reporting rules
• Investments and cash management experience
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with his team, management, auditors and regulators
• Proven people management & leadership skills
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, & problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task; work under pressure to meet stringent deadlines.
• At ease with figures and data processing tools, ideally knowledge of SAP and SAP BW
• Expert MS Excel, MS Office
