The Raleigh/Durham team has an opportunity for a Senior Development Director.
The Senior Development Director serves in a player/coach role, overseeing fundraising, planning, volunteer recruitment and management, engagement with corporate and community leaders, event execution, and growth for our annual Triangle Heart Walk campaign, along with providing supervision to two (2) fundraising team members. This includes the Heart Walk and Field Day events.
This is an office-based position with a hybrid schedule. The office is in Durham, NC. This position requires daily local travel in the Triangle area.
In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Development and will lead two (2) fundraising directors to meet the overall revenue goal for the Heart Walk campaign for The Triangle market.

Responsibilities
- Achieve assigned revenue goals by developing and maintaining relationships with corporate and community partners.
- Ensure the team meets/exceeds annual revenue goals.
- Lead existing and new sponsorships and relationships to achieve campaign goals through the cultivation, stewardship, and growth of donor financial dedication and support.
- Drive new business development by soliciting and maintaining high-level corporate and patron sponsors.
- Lead the team in the identification, cultivation, and recruitment of C-suite and executive volunteer leaders.
- Own the efforts of building volunteer leadership committees.
- Maintain an ongoing pipeline of potential sponsors, donors, and volunteer leadership to advance our mission.
- Develop and implement a plan for consistent campaign and revenue growth
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate assigned fundraising event(s) according to best practices and event timeline/budget.
- Confirm detailed, timely, and accurate data entry of relevant event campaign information.
- Collaborate with other team members and volunteers.
- Coach and mentor your direct reports to ensure their professional growth and success.
Qualifications
- University/College degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
- 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or an equivalent type of experience.
- Some previous supervisory experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices, and techniques.
- Ability and experience in recruiting, training, and encouraging top-level donors and volunteers.
- Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, negotiating, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation.
- Ability to work outside of standard hours, which may involve some evenings and/or weekends.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned geographical territory.
