Job Summary:
The Strategic Category Manager is responsible for creating the sourcing strategy and locate new suppliers for the categories assigned to meet quality, delivery, and cost goals. They will be teamed with strategic and tactical supply teams to meet customer requirements, company objectives, and hold suppliers to our expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create sourcing strategies for categories to meet cost, lead time, and quality goals.
- Locate, negotiate, and onboard new suppliers in key global regions.
- Ensure adequate capacity in each category exists.
- Use the competitive bid process to solicit capable sources to obtain favorable pricing and delivery, while strategically growing a network of suppliers.
- Review proposals, negotiate, and issue purchase agreements with supply base considering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Negotiate and implement contracts and LTA’s where applicable.
- Create should cost models for categories to challenge single-sourced or source-controlled suppliers.
- Create supplier risk profiles for categories and strategies to reduce risk.
- Support business development by sourcing new program components to support growth initiatives, including Best Cost Country (BCC).
- Support business improvement projects and other duties as required.
- Track and report measurements such as cost reduction, terms improvement, lead time reduction and quality improvements with supplier scorecards and internal bowling charts
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related
- 3+ years of experience in purchasing / sourcing / supply chain / planning
- Experience in developing global supply chain strategy and building high performing suppliers.
- Results oriented growth mindset with the drive build sourcing strategy.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience with complex negotiations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and ensure complete follow through.
- Proven success with an ability to influence vertically and horizontally inside the organization.
- Knowledge of Supply Chan / Procurement best practices.
