Job Description
The QC Chemist III is a senior level Quality Control role responsible for independently performing complex analytical testing, leading technical troubleshooting activities, and supporting investigation ownership within the laboratory. Chemist III applies advanced technical knowledge across multiple product lines to ensure data quality, identify and resolve complex analytical issues, and support laboratory efficiency. This role serves as a technical resource for the laboratory and provides mentorship to junior staff. Work is performed in accordance with approved procedures and safety requirements, with final data review and approval completed by independent laboratory personnel.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to capably perform each of the following essential duties:
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced analytical testing and data interpretation to ensure materials meet specifications and are released on time
- Lead technical troubleshooting, investigations, and root cause analysis for complex analytical issues
- Support stability studies, laboratory throughput, and performance metrics
- Identify data trends and recommend improvements to methods, calibration standards, and laboratory practices
- Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation (ICP, ICP-MS, GC, LC), including advanced troubleshooting
- Review and validate data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and traceability
- Revise and develop SOPs and analytical methods to improve consistency and robustness
- Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to QC, QA, and Production teams
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior chemists
Qualifications
Essential Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant laboratory experience.
- Hands-on experience with multiple analytical techniques and execution of complex laboratory procedures with minimal supervision.
- Experience with ICP, ICP-MS, GC, and LC across diverse product lines.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality systems, data integrity principles, and procedural compliance.
- Proven ability to interpret complex analytical data, troubleshoot instrumentation and methods, and apply sound technical judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory information/ERP systems.
Preferred Knowledge & Qualifications
- Experience supporting or leading technical investigations, including root cause analysis and follow-up testing.
- Involvement in method development, validation, or process/procedural improvements.
- Experience mentoring or training junior laboratory staff.
- Familiarity with LIMS or ERP platforms (e.g., IFS, FileMaker).

Work Conditions and Environment
- Travel & Time Expectations: Travel less than 5% of working time is expected. This position may be required to work evening or weekend hours in support of business and customer needs.
