Job Description

The Warehouse Operations Leader is responsible for leading a centralized team that is accountable for supporting O-I internal and external warehousing operational and returnable packaging activities, and to develop a strategy for plant warehouses to implement and maintain best practices, employ inventory management techniques, and report/monitor supplemental financial/performance metrics in order to ensure the best possible cost, while meeting the unique service needs of our customers.

The Warehouse Operations Leader Responsibilites: 

  • Provide guidance to the Plant Materials Managers in the development and maintenance of leading warehousing practices through internal benchmarking.
  • Develop an approach and tools to optimize internal storage layouts and improve capacity utilization, while using sound logic for materials stored externally.
  • Define internal warehouse productivity standards and targets to include hours of operation, staffing recommendations, and outbound loading yield based upon seasonal fluctuations and volume dynamics.
  • Implement ABC inventory storage methodology and establish cycle count process with targeted inventory accuracy expectations for plant locations.
  • Provide direction and support to the Materials Managers in the Stock Transfer Order (STO) process in collaboration with Customer Service in order to ensure efficient and timely product flow to the outside storage facilities so that the business is served in a cost effective manner.
  • Develop and perform routine internal warehouse surveillance audits to verify that best practices are being adhered to and provide corrective action as necessary.
  • Oversee outside warehouse operations to ensure that inventory management  processes and order fulfilment practices are consistent with O-I guidelines and procedures.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the Returnable Packaging (RTP) staff so that packaging inventories and returns are managed in accordance with customer contracts and in compliance with sort/repair criteria performed at third party facilities.      
  • Champion SAP/ITF system enhancements that help streamline inventory workflow activities for both the plant and central warehousing teams.
  • Support Logistics Procurement in the strategic sourcing of leased and public warehouses, RTP sorting locations, and resort/repack operations while overseeing the onboarding process of new vendors.
  • Support the Director of Logistics in the establishment of warehousing and RTP budgets along with the development of metrics and monthly reconciliation of related spend.  
  • Lead continuous improvement projects for internal and external warehousing operations.
  • Monitor customer service levels with special focus on the areas of “on time shipping” and “on time and in full” targets.

Salary Range:  The expected salary range for this position is between $125,000 -$145,000.  Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Qualifications

The Warehouse Operations Leader should have: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations or a related field
  • 5+ years of Warehousing Experience
  • 3+ years of Supervisory Experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Working familiarity with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP and Lean Six Sigma a plus
  • Experience with Logistics Systems a plus
  • Excellent analytic
