The Position

The Research Associate in Non-Viral Delivery department is a part of the RNA & Gene Therapy CVP leadership team. In RNA & Gene Therapies, there are four specialized departments: Non-viral delivery, Viral delivery, RNA Technologies and Genome Editing. The Specialist in question is a subject matter expert in design and synthesis of novel non viral delivery systems, contributing to the overall success of RNA & Gene Therapy area in advancing the portfolio and applications of nucleic acid therapies.

 

Relationship

Reports to Senior Director and head of Non Viral Delivery (interim), Later to Team manager.

Essential Functions

  • As a Research Associate in the Non-Viral Delivery department, you will become a part of a multinational and diverse team consisting of fellow Laboratory Technicians, Specialist/Scientists and a global department manager. The goal of the team is to develop synthetic/non-viral nanomedicines, apply advanced analytical characterisation techniques and translate these to preclinical and clinical studies through internal and external collaborations
  • Routinely formulate and characterize LNPs at small to mid scale using microfluidics
    • Development and establishment of capabilities for research grade formulation of nucleic acid cargo using a lipid nanoparticle approach
    • Develop robust analytical methods and bioassays for LNP
    • Support organic synthesis and QC of novel biomaterials
  • Communicate findings internally to team via presentations and written reports
  • Independent planning, execution, and documentation of experiments

 

Physical Requirements

No travel expected.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree strongly preferred with 0 years’ minimum relevant experience required, OR High School Diploma with 8+ years’ relevant experience OR Associate or Vocational degree, 4+ years’ relevant experience may also be considered
  • Relevant experience can be a combination of paid and academic experience and should include some of the following:
    • Hands-on experience in handling of DNA, RNA, lipids, and/or polymers
    • Experience with analytical methods, this may include biophysical methods like fluorescence spectroscopy, light scattering, chromatography pH etc.
    • Independently operate good lab maintenance and equipment SOPs etc.
    • Work experience with late stage development and scale up of formulations
    • Experience with automation
