Part Time Early Childhood Education Faculty

About the role
The Ivy Tech Muncie/Henry Co Campus is searching for the ideal candidate to fill a new part time, grant funded, Early Childhood Education Faculty Fellow position. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, community engagement and partnerships with early learning programs, and working with our students to achieve their successes. The person in this position will provide instruction (classes, labs, and field experience) within early childhood education; assist Department Chair with curriculum development, student advising, high school dual credit/dual enrollment, program enrollment, and provide institutional support and community service for our large service area for the program (Delaware, Henry, Madison, Hancock, Jay, Randolph, Wayne, Union, Fayette, and Rush Counties).
This is a grant funded position through December 2025. The position may be extended based on need and if additional funding is available.
This is a part time position, about 20 hours per week. The position will require a flexible weekly schedule based on meetings, student needs, course schedules, and special events. Some evenings will be required. It is a blended position with some days on-campus, time spent in the regional community, and some remote.

Responsibilities:
Course Instructor
- Deliver assigned classes (usually 2-3 per semester) in accordance with College loading policy and course objectives.
- Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and other course materials.
- Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and/or other documentation as required.
- Maintain a safe, quality classroom/lab, including equipment, supplies, inventory and maintenance.
- Build relationships with local early learning programs and oversee the placement of students for field experience at affiliated sites in the area.
- Maintain office hours in accordance with the faculty loading guidelines in the Academic Policies and Procedures Manual (ASOM).
- Complete CDA Verification Visits for students in our regional area.
Departmental and Institutional Support
- Provide institutional support as expected by college administration that may include curriculum development, classroom management, accreditation efforts, committee and task force assignments, attendance at commencement or other activities that are college-wide or specific to the school/department of the faculty member.
- Attend community meetings as needed to support the Early Childhood Education Department.
- Assist with grant reporting.
- Assist with inventory, organization, and purchasing of materials for the department.
- Assist with planning, preparation of materials, set up/tear down, and marketing for meetings and events for the department.
- Assist with program accreditation efforts.
- Assist with high school dual credit/dual enrollment courses, relationships, syllabus monitoring, and site visits.
- Assist in the coordination of related activities with other academic and non-academic departments.
Advising
- Provide student advising support as expected by college administration that may include assistance during pre-and regular registration periods and during posted office hours.
- Provide support to the Department Chair by making phone calls and sending emails or text messages to students, checking student progress and grades, checking in with adjunct instructors for students who may be struggling, and working with other departments to provide student resources as needed.
Enrollment Management
- Assist with activities for student recruitment, advising, registration, graduation and other promotional activities.
- Assist in the maintenance of secondary and post-secondary linkages.
- Participate in job placement and alumni activities as requested.
Professional Development
- Participate in professional development or other activities that may include in-services, courses, or seminars to advance instructional and technical skills as well as knowledge within the field of study and knowledge of Ivy Tech policies and procedures.
Community Service
- Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance the college's relationships within its service area as appropriate for department/school.
