About the role

Job Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Mountain View, CA three times per week, at minimum.

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Staff Quality Engineer with a strong background in Linux environments and a focus on security. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing comprehensive test plans and strategies to ensure the quality and security with a focus on automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for Linux applications and security features.

  • Conduct security testing, including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and compliance checks.

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to identify testing requirements and establish quality benchmarks.

  • Automate test processes and frameworks to improve efficiency and accuracy in testing.

  • Identify, document, and track defects, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.

  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the design and implementation of secure coding practices.

  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in QA and Linux security.

  • Mentor junior QA engineers and provide guidance on testing methodologies and tools.

Additional Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 9+ years of experience in QA engineering, with a focus on Linux environments, automation.

  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line tools.

  • Experience with security testing tools and methodologies.

  • Proficient in scripting languages (Python) for automation.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of experience in QA engineering, with a focus on Linux environments, automation.

  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line tools.

  • Experience with security testing tools and methodologies.

  • Proficient in scripting languages (Python) for automation.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

  • Compensation: 

    • The expected base compensation for this role is: $186,000- $285,300. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position. 

    • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
