Job Description

Basic Purpose

This entry level position works as a part of the Oklahoma State Parks Statewide Maintenance Team to preserve and manage forest lands, natural resources, rangelands and parks.

Typical Functions

• Decide best and most efficient way to remove fallen timber.
• Design ways to manage forests that minimally impact environment and preserve land.
• Perform tree removal.
• Monitor the progress of forests across the state.
• Devise and implement methods to keep forests free from disease, pestilence, and wildfires.
• Communicate with firefighters and other forest workers.
• Utilize a variety of tools and equipment to perform duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification

• Must demonstrate knowledge of fire management techniques.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License.
• Must be able to perform all duties independently and under direct supervision.
• Will be required to travel long distances and work at multiple locations across the state.
• Will be required to stay in agency provided lodging while working on site.

Special Requirements

• This position will be eligible for per diem allowances while working in the field.
• Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency.
• All candidates tentatively selected for this position will be subject to a background check.
