Job Description:

We are excited to share an exciting opportunity to play a role in the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine’s new initiative, The Center for Clinical Innovation, as an Associate Clinical Specialist 2. This is an outstanding professional position for a veterinary medical professional, registered veterinary technician, or the equivalent, who appreciates the value and impact of clinical research. The successful applicant will have an exciting role participating in in cutting-edge clinical studies that will significantly advance the health and well-being of all companion pets, including equine, exotic, and farm animals, in a hospital with state-of-the-art technology.Applicants both with and without prior experience working in a clinical research setting are welcome. We are looking for a motivated, dedicated, and creative veterinary medical professionals who is ready to level up their career. The incumbent will contribute to sample collection, patient care, client communication and provide support for a variety of general and specialized procedures.  The position is available immediately. Starting salary and appointment, staff, will be commensurate with professional and academic credentials and experience.Job Responsibilities:20% - The technician will be expected to participate in research protocols, as assigned, primarily to assist in animal handling, anesthesia, and post-operative care. They will also perform diagnostic sample collection (e.g. blood culture, blood typing/crossmatch, and coagulation panels), among other data collection procedures.20% - Assist with performance of daily operations of clinical innovation Centre,  including but not limited to assisting clinical trials manager, house officers, clinicians and students with patients. Assists with sample and data collection from individual trial participants to ensure study progress continues as planned without interruption or delayed or incomplete sampling.20% - Use hospital systems to identify  and screen potential trial participants of various studies based on study inclusion and exclusion criteria on a daily basis. Collaborated with Clinical trial manager and Director to recruit study participants.20% - Scheduling of required client appointments.
Assist clients and service clinicians with prescription refills as needed, ensuring SOP standards are maintained. Maintenance of daily patient census and maintain a record of information relayed to clients and referring veterinarians to make sure all individuals are up to date on all aspects of a clinical trial. 10% - Communicate and follow up with clients to ensure study follow up procedures are maintained.10% - Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable experience OR Associates degree in veterinary technology with 2 years of applicable experience OR CVT or equivalent with 2 years of applicable experience OR 5 Years of experience in a working environment with similar duties OR 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician 1 at LSU Vet Med.Special and Physical Qualifications:Safety and Security Sensitive Job - Safety and security-sensitive positions are defined as those positions where any form of substance abuse may affect University activities through unsafe work behavior/performance or error in judgment; or where substance abuse could jeopardize the safety and well-being of employees, other personnel, or the general public, or cause significant damage to University property.
