Position Overview:

The Sr. Database Administrator applies comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments pertaining to performance, security, and reliability of the company’s databases. Will evaluate performance results and recommend major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. The Sr. Database Admin will function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments and may supervise others.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure database management systems(DBMS)
  • Create and maintain databases and tables
  • Ensure the integrity, security and availability of data
  • Tune the performance of the databases
  • Bak-up and restore databases
  • Monitor and troubleshoot any issues that arise with the databases
  • Manage access controls and user permissions
  • Plan for disaster recovery
  • Ensure the databases are up-to-date with the latest and software releases and security patches
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations

 

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL database Administrator or Microsoft Certified: Azure database Administrator Associate
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems
  • Experience with database design and administration
  • Familiarity with database security best practices and encryption methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience with cloud-based databases and technologies is a plus
  • Familiarity with Linux is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to new technologies and methodologies as they emerge
