General purpose: Peer Career Advisors (PCA's) are undergraduate and graduate students who provide pivotal services for the Joseph Meyerhoff Center for Career Development. 

Summary of Essential Functions 

  • PCA's will provide one-on-one career advising to fellow students and assist in creating Career Development resources or programs. PCA's are trained in the basics of Career Development topics that students frequently ask, and typically work 4-6 hours per week.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Represent the Career Development Office as a Student Ambassador

  • Engage students and provide one-on-one career advising sessions

  • Assist in the development & planning of programs, workshops and presentations

  • Assist with major events (e.g. Practice & Pie, Resumes 101, Wellness Fair, Spring Involvement Fair)

  • Create career resources

  • Create outreach campaigns to assigned caseload  

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled MICA undergraduate/graduate student at the time of employment

  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship experience

  • Proficiency with Google Office Suite 

Compensation

  • 4-6 hours per week

  • $15.00 per hour 

Conditions of Employment 

  • Mandatory 1-day training in late August and Joint Student Leader Training

  • Student employees may work no more than 20 hours per week across all on-campus positions. 

  • PCA's hold their position for one academic year and sometimes continue into multiple years. This is discussed and decided mutually during an end-of-year review.
