THE ROLE

The Lead, Cost Accounting will be a collaborative business partner responsible for developing Key Performance Indicators which drive gross margin. With an emphasis on reviewing actual supply chain and manufacturing spend, trending those cost activities, developing commentary, and providing cost and reserve recommendations.  Will perform inventory analysis illustrating opportunities and risks with a corresponding update to the financials.   

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate on the growth opportunities with supply chain and manufacturing operations and the effects on accounting and finance.
• Partner with the Head, Inventory and Cost Accounting on assignments dealing with the routine and daily operations of inventory accounting.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of month end close items including, but not limited to, journal entries, reconciliations and related analyses
• Participate in the oversight of year-end physical inventory counts
• Essential job functions / ownership
  • Standard costing
  • Variances to standard, e.g. Purchase Price Variance, Work Order Variance, Scrap
  • Inventory analysis review providing aging, type, and provision, if applicable
  • Overhead spend defined and modeled, in Excel
• Manage external audit deliverables related to inventory and cost of sales, and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls
• Undertake special projects as needed 

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years of progressive experience in inventory and cost accounting in a Manufacturing environment
• B.S. in Finance or Accounting
• Ownership of inventory flows in an ERP system
• Standard cost review with creation of journal entries, where applicable
• Variance analysis with emphasis on purchase price variance and work order variance
• Power user with Excel for modelling

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MBA
• Pharmaceutical finance manufacturing experience
• ERP experience with NetSuite
