Production Planning & Logistics Leader - Wilmington, DE

 

The Production Planning & Logistics Leader will support site manufacturing operations by ensuring uninterrupted raw material supply, coordination of material handling operations, production planning activities, material inventory control and implementation of improvement ideas to achieve site objectives in the most safe, economical and efficient manner.

 

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all activities are performed in a safe manner.  Support and adhere to the principles of SUNCARE and applicable regulations by protecting the environment, health, safety and security of our employees, contractors, carriers, distributors, visitors, customers and neighbors.
• Control raw material and intermediate inventory to assure an adequate supply is available to meet requirements while meeting inventory value targets.  Schedule and coordinate cycle counts and subsequent inventory reconciliation for all materials.  Maintain a Quarantine area for non-conforming materials. 
• Establish processes to ensure that all raw material demand is sourced on time and work toward secondary supply points whenever possible.  Ensure coordination of all shipments to the external warehouse as well as direct to customers when the need arises.         
• Develop detailed production schedules for all Production Areas conforming to demand requirements.  Negotiate and track any changes to the FG schedule. Track finished goods production volumes based on forecast and agreed production schedule.         
• Be the liaison between the business team and manufacturing to ensure production plans are optimized to meet customer demand and inventory targets.
• Actively manage inventory levels and push for reduction of ugly inventory (off-spec, rework, old, slow moving)      
• Establish, monitor, and improve, the performance standards for the material handling processes and the systems which control them.  Utilize lean manufacturing tools where appropriate. Maintain process databases and provide timely and routine feedback to those responsible for maintaining the material handling process performance.
• Work closely with procurement to ensure adequate stocks of raw materials arrive in a timely fashion.
• Liaise with suppliers and haulers as needed to ensure on time deliveries.
• Work with our off-site warehouse team to manage finished product inventories and quality control of that operation.
