The Impact You’ll Make

The primary objective of hiring a Senior Storage Engineer is to enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of our storage infrastructure. This role is pivotal in driving the methodology and best practices around storage cluster performance measurement and optimization. The Senior Storage Engineer will collaborate closely with various teams—such as Project Management, application development, and other infrastructure teams like Network, Security, and Database—to develop a robust, maintainable, and highly available storage architecture. This position also aims to leverage our NetApp investments by improving their quality, performance, and resiliency, while implementing best practices in virtualization and data lifecycle management, including data tiering and classification. The end goal is to ensure the delivery of enterprise-ready storage solutions that meet the highest standards of excellence.

What You’ll Do

• Modeling, measuring, and optimizing storage cluster performance
• Drive methodology and practice around measuring, evaluating, and delivering performance
• Help improve the quality, performance, and resiliency of our NetApp investments
• Data tiering/cloud tiering, Data Lifecycle Management
• Data Classification
• Work closely with Project Management, application development, and other infrastructure teams like Network, Security, and Database teams to develop scalable, maintainable, and highly available storage architecture
• Prepare and deliver meeting presentations on technical topics
• Work closely with the virtualization team to recommend and implement best practices around storage deployments
• Participate as needed along with the team to deliver enterprise-ready products
• Create scripts to automate various storage administration tasks
• Provide internal guidance on NetApp storage product direction
• Understand client's infrastructures, their needs, and provide expertise and consulting on storage and hypervisor solutions such as VMware
• Act as technical lead for new initiatives and deployments
• Architect appropriate storage platforms supporting network and server equipment needs for deployment
• Troubleshoot system errors and problems, document and recommend solutions to improve the operating environment
• Recommend changes to architecture for operational optimization
• Create documentation for all storage infrastructure changes

Who We’re Looking For

• College degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required
• Candidate must have 7-10 years of experience in NetApp storage system administration
• Proven experience as a Storage Engineer or similar role
• Deep understanding of NetApp storage solutions
• Experience/Expertise with HCI (like Nutanix, WSSD/Azure Stack HCI, VMware VSAN)
• Automation/Scripting - PowerShell and Ansible skills
• Experience with technologies such as Object-Based Storage, Azure Cloud Storage Services a plus
• Experience with disaster recovery and architecture a plus
• Knowledge of HA concepts
• Experience with change ticketing in Service Now a plus
• Proficiency in scripting languages for automation purposes
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Experience with VMware or other hypervisor solutions
• Project management skills are a plus
