WHAT MAKES VOA SPECIAL?

VOAC recognizes the unique needs of the older adult who needs a wheelchair ramp to stay at home safely, and the preschooler whose family needs additional resources. VOAC supports veteran’s efforts to exit homelessness as well as provides a safe place for survivors of domestic violence. Wherever VOAC goes, it combines relationship-building, volunteers and quality services to lift and support our neighbor’s efforts to become self-sufficient and reach their full potential.


**  The Director of Veteran Programming will have strategic responsibility for all Veteran housing programs across the state. The Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive strategy that supports Volunteers of America strategic initiatives throughout their assigned area of responsibility. The Director is charged with pushing forth the strategic vision for Veteran services statewide, including identification of the complex needs of Veterans and Veteran communities statewide as well as funding and partnership opportunities to address these needs. The Director oversees the overall functioning of Veteran housing programs and provides direct supervision to Associate Directors. Director has oversight of multi-million-dollar funding streams. Responsibilities include: monitoring and implementation of quality and quantity of supportive services, activities, and program initiatives located in multiple geographic areas; supervision of director level staff; reporting to funding sources; cultivating positive relationships with local, regional, and national partners; leadership and participation in local community efforts to end Veteran homelessness; development, implementation and monitoring of program budgets; Veterans events planning and fundraising, and grant preparation, administration and monitoring. Responsible for establishing internal and external reporting systems, financial oversight and management of all assigned programs, ensuring compliance with overarching rules and regulations, and oversight of project data collection and evaluation. This position is expected to travel regularly to field offices located statewide. Current programming includes but is not limited to: Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) and Freedom Springs. 


  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

·  Directs the development and implementation of program components to ensure that the services are high quality and consistent with the goals of the agency and program. 

· Ensures that SSVF program initiatives are implemented and monitored including but not limited to rapid resolution, legal services, landlord and tenant incentives, money management, and shallow subsidy.

· Plans, implements, and administers all programs under their supervision in accordance with applicable regulations, best practice standards, and Volunteers of America principles and goals.

· Where applicable, establishes and/or assists in the maintenance of Veteran advisory committee that meets regularly and is composed of members best suited to meet programming and agency goals. 

· Ensures that Veteran’s voice is heard, and when appropriate their ideas play a prominent role in programming. In collaboration with funders and other community stakeholders, develops and implements a comprehensive strategy to support Volunteers of America strategic initiatives throughout the assigned area of responsibility. 

· Routinely seeks out new funding sources and program opportunity to support Veteran needs in Colorado.

· Leads annual planning efforts related to Veteran events, celebration and fundraising where appropriate.

· Recruits, trains, and supervises high quality staff and ensures each employee is thoroughly trained to perform the duties in their position.

· Directly responsible for the coaching, supervision and evaluation of director-level personnel throughout the assigned area of responsibility.

· Functions as a liaison between the programs, community agencies, and funders. Develops alliances and collaborative agreements with public and private community agencies. Seeks additional resources and funding streams for the program as needed.

· Acts as professional liaison to the service provider community as a subject matter expert.?

· Prepares program budgets annually and monitors expenditures throughout the year, taking corrective action when needed.

· Monitors the systems devised to collect outcome data and revise as needed. Analyzes data to ensure that goals are being met and that programs continue to benefit community and people served. Prepares required reports and program data and submits by the due date. When required, submits reports in advance to Senior Director for review.
