Job Summary:The Arizona Game and Fish Department offers paid internship opportunities to current students, graduate and undergraduate. Recent (within the past year) graduates are also eligible to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining hands-on practical work experience while working with a diverse group of professionals in the fields of wildlife science, biological science, wildlife management, and many other professions within the Department.
Student interns are hired on a temporary basis and paid an hourly rate of $16.50. Interns are not benefit eligible and work at the discretion of the appointing authority. Interns may be employed through their approved assignment or the department determines that the work is no longer required. Assignments are typically full-time unless indicated by the hiring supervisor.

(3) BOATING SAFETY EDUCATION INTERN (40 hours/WK)
Join the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Boating Safety Education Program and help promote safe, responsible recreation on Arizona’s waterways. This field-focused role supports powerboating, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding safety education across the state, including the Phoenix metro area. You’ll work directly with the public through classroom instruction, on-water demonstrations, and outreach events designed to increase awareness of boating and paddlesport safety.
This is a field-intensive position, with 65-85% of time spent in the field, requiring travel and weekend work. The position is based at the AZGFD Headquarters in Phoenix (5000 W Carefree Hwy). Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, typically with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. This is a temporary position running from May 18, 2026, through September 11, 2026.

(1) WILDLIFE VIEWING PROGRAM INTERN (20-29 hours/WK)
Description of Duties: The Wildlife Viewing Intern will assist the Wildlife Viewing team with the delivery of in-person wildlife viewing public events, and may assist in the planning and research of wildlife based content for workshops and webinars. Additionally, the intern will assist with the delivery of wildlife viewing programming. Most duties will be done in an outdoor, in-person, public-facing capacity.
