Job Summary

Join Caterpillar’s fastest-growing division as an ME Documentation Specialist, supporting the production of our industry-leading Cat Switchgear. In this entry-level role, you’ll create and maintain essential manufacturing documentation while assisting with planning tasks such as project coordination and vendor communications. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers and facility staff, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement. This role offers a strong foundation for growth, with potential to develop into a Manufacturing Engineering career path.

What You Will Do:

  • Create, update, and organize manufacturing documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOP’s), first-of-a-kind (FOAK) process guides, work instructions, and production standards.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to gather accurate process information and translate it into clear, usable documentation.

  • Support documentation efforts for prototype builds, new product launches, and process improvements.

  • Maintain organized documentation systems with proper version control and accessibility.

  • Assist with basic planning tasks such as tracking project timelines and coordinating documentation deliverables.

  • Communicate with vendors to gather technical details or confirm documentation accuracy, under supervision.

  • Ensure all documentation meets internal standards and supports compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

  • Recommend improvements to enhance clarity, consistency, and usability of documentation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support team and facility goals.

What You Will Have:

  • Working knowledge and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

  • Entry-level experience in manufacturing, production support, or technical documentation.

  • Strong written communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into clear, user-friendly documentation.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and take direction from facility leadership.

What Will Put You Ahead:

  • Prior exposure to manufacturing environments or production floor operations.

  • Familiarity with documentation practices in industrial or technical settings.

  • Interest in learning project coordination and vendor communication within a structured support role.

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to occasionally lift parts up to 25 lbs. individually or up to 50 lbs. with a team lift

  • The ability to bend, reach, and squat while performing tasks

  • The ability to wear required personal protective equipment for assigned tasks

  • The ability to work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures

  • The ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods while performing tasks
