Overview

The Fleet Parts Specialist orders, receives, stocks storage, and insured a variety of automotive and diesel related parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and merchandise to ensure effective operation and maintenance of storeroom and warehouse or yard for the Fleet Management Department

Essential Functions

1 Receives, gathers, and organizes materials and supplies ordered through various sources for day-to-day operation and maintenance of an automotive, fleet supply, store room, warehouse, or storage yard; provides support to mechanics involved in automotive repair by storing, shipping, receiving, marking, and pulling automotive parts from the warehouse supplies.

2 Calls, emails, and communicates with multi vendors, obtains quotes, and searches master agreements; provides emergency repair orders and maintain functionality and usability of fleet vehicles.

3 Delivers, transports, and picks up supplies and materials from various locations to expedite the procurement and disbursement of essential items; pulls orders, issues materials, and supplies to ensure mechanics are provided with the necessary supplies needed to complete specific jobs.

4 Operates various equipment to move or transport supplies and materials to other yards, vendors, workstations, or supply rooms.

5 Stocks and stores supplies, materials, and equipment in designated areas for efficient retrieval; inventories and maintains materials and supplies using a computerized inventory tracking system to ensure proper stock levels and quantities are maintained; monitors and maintains P-card usage logs.

6 Cleans automotive shop and performs general maintenance duties to ensure a clean and safe work area; pulls parts and tire or wheel assemblies from stock, posts to repair orders, and delivers to mechanics repairing City vehicles.

7 Prepares parts for return to manufacturer, receives salvaged or repaired parts into stock, affixes identification labels to parts, performs physical inventory, and assists with other shipping and receiving operations.

8 Delivers parts to other locations, ensures that transfers are documented and accounted for, and makes updates to computer inventory system to reflect the changes.

9 Files completed work orders from mechanics into a permanent file to document work completed and parts used or charged

10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of storekeeping and inventory systems, methods, and procedures or the use of computerized tracking system.

2 Knowledge of supply room methods and practices.

3 Ability to keep routine supply room records.

4 Ability to do heavy lifting and carrying.

5 Ability to read, write, and speak English; do simple math.

6 Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

7 Ability to use technically oriented parts catalogs and reference manuals.

8 Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.

9 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: 

  • High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE:  

  • Two (2) years of experience in automotive work which involved one (1) or more of the following:

                       - Counter Sales
                       - Inventory Control
                       - Purchasing/Issuing Automotive or Heavy-Duty Parts
LICENSE:

  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Salary Range

 

$19.63 - $21.39
