We are hiring an API Integration Engineer at a Staff software engineer level well-versed in discovering, writing, and testing application-to-application API integrations for an enterprise-level integration of our constellation tasking system. This is a crucial role that will work alongside our system engineers, clients, and other cross-functional team members to help enhance our capabilities and client application integrations. The ideal candidate will be a strong contributor to development & delivery of API integrations, focusing on creating and maintaining a custom interface that meets the client’s specifications.

While the locations listed in the job posting are ideal, we would love candidates near either our Herndon, VA or Seattle, WA offices. We may also consider remote candidates in certain states.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with cross-functional teams and clients to help seamlessly integrate BlackSky’s tasking and delivery APIs with client system/applications.
• Resolve and manage issues that may arise with existing or newly created APIs.
• Collaborate with program managers, system engineers, developers to identify requirements, develop, document, and deliver integrated APIs.
• Provide insightful feedback during design sessions and help your teammates catch issues before they make it into production.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of backend web API development, specifically with Java and RESTful interfaces.
• Strong understanding of how to design API connections between multiple platforms and applications.
• Experience in API layer like security, custom analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request, and response modifications.
• Experience with Security frameworks (e.g., JWT, OATH2).
• Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to fellow team members (both technical and non-technical).
• Must be a US-born citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in creating REST API documentation using Swagger or similar tools.
• Experience working with geospatial data.
• Familiarity with remote sensing products and processing.

The anticipated salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA is $160,000-180,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Seattle, WA
