All about you and this role

As the SCO Olefins Senior Process Automation Engineer, you support process automation activities for the ethylene plants in St. Charles Operations (SCO) as a part of the Hydrocarbons Improvement Organization. You serve as automation lead for asset utilization improvements, capital/expense projects, plant troubleshooting, and continuous improvement projects. You are a technical resource for process automation related aspects of safe and efficient operation.

The successful candidate for this job will be a member of the SCO Hydrocarbons Process Automation Team.  This team partners with both the improvement team to implement projects that increase profitability and sustainability as well as the production team to ensure the facility operates safely and efficiently. 

Responsibilities

  • Sustain performance of all process control applications – tracking system performance, identify opportunities, and implement solutions.
  • Implement process control solutions in the plant – resolve short term issues, participate in process control strategy development, develop process control software, develop simulations for program verification and training, load process control program into an operating plant production environment.
  • Transfer knowledge and experience to others – provide technical coaching for plant process control technicians, update Operating Discipline /procedures, and deliver training on new control improvement projects to plant personnel.
  • Function as a key support member of the plant team – participate in team activities, support project start-ups, assist during plant upsets as well as planned or unplanned shutdown/startups.
  • Active in all phases of projects: front end loading, detailed design and construction, and commissioning and startup
  • Support advanced control applications.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering required.
  • At least 4 years of engineering, manufacturing, or related experience required.
  • 1 or more years process automation experience preferred.
  • Some travel may be required based on business need.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Additional Notes

  • This position does not offer relocation assistance.
  • Shift work, with extended hours, are to be expected during periods of high workload such as plant upsets, turnarounds and project start-ups.
