Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Student/Administrative Support, MVSSC - Boca Raton, FL

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the operations of the Military and Veterans Student Success Center Front Desk.  Facilitates and/or coordinates project related meetings including logistics planning, agenda setting, and note taking.

  • Responsible for training and supervising the Veteran Work Study Students.  Works with the MVSSC office in maintaining customer service coverage and ordering of supplies. Provide excellent customer service to our students and parents answering the phone and walk-in customers. 

  • Responsible for managing and maintains the workflow for the MVSSC in terms of ensuring financial requests (i.e., payment requests, requisitions, journal entries, etc.) are signed and processed appropriately in a timely manner. This includes oversight of scanning documents to maintain the area records and forwarding on to the appropriate department within the University for processing.

  • Serves as the back-up Certifying Official. Responsible for timely certifications and submitting required VA Reports within the appropriate timeframe each semester. 

  • Responsible for back-up billing of veteran educational benefits, submission of out-of-state waivers, deferments, and communicating important deadlines to military and veteran students.

  • Keeps Director, or assigned supervisor, informed of accommodations needed for military and veteran students such as lifting of holds, tuition deferments, and exceptional circumstances withdrawals.

  • Keeps informed of changes and developments in areas related to or associated with military and veterans that may affect their benefits and/or ability to persist and graduate.

  • Stay current on best/common practices related to military and veteran student support, programs, and centers for excellence.

  • Collects and maintains data for the divisional annual report.​

  • Facilitates yearly commemorative events such as Veteran’s Day. ​

  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures, newsletters, brochures, and web pages that can be used to promote and support military and veterans students.

  • Assist in maintaining and continuously improving the university’s rankings in Best for Vets, Military Friendly, and other designations available for military and veterans serving institutions.​

  • Collaborates with other divisional departments to promote the development of programs and events aimed at serving military and veteran students.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
