Responsibilities
Peraton has a new opportunity for a mid-level Software Engineer to join our Technology and Engineering Strategic Delivery team in Blacksburg, VA.
Our Software Engineers support exciting projects across Peraton in areas such as communications, space, cybersecurity, defense, health, and mobile. You’ll have the opportunity to work in a collaborative, supportive environment that allows you to grow your skills and your career while building experience in a variety of different projects and domains.
You’ll work in an Agile software development environment supporting requirements/story development, software architecture and design, software development, and unit/component testing. The initial project assignment for this position is in the space domain supporting full-stack development for a space communications project.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience working as a software engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
- Experience working with Java, MongoDB, RabbitMQ.
- Experience working with web-based technologies including React.js, AngularJS, Node.js, RESTFul services.
- Prior experience working in an Agile software development environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Desired
- Prior experience working with DevSecOps processes and tools (e.g., Jira, Jenkins, Subversion, Maven, Hudson)
- Prior experience with analyzing requirements, estimating level-of-effort, and writing Agile stories.
- Prior experience with satellite communications and/or the space domain
- Prior experience providing mentoring to junior personnel.
- Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action and an ability to find innovative ways to solve problems.
Education / Experience equivalency: 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.Apply for this role
