Working Title: Warden - DC

 

Salary: $114,274.68 annually ($4,395.18 biweekly)

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be currently employed with the Florida Department of Corrections.
  • Must possess twelve (12) years of professional correctional experience, two (2) years must be at the department head level (Classification Supervisor/Major or higher). College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year for a maximum of one year of the professional correctional required experience.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position has been determined by the department to have managerial responsibilities and is a position of special trust that oversees the administration and coordination of the operations of an institution. Other duties may include the following:
  • The Warden is the Institution’s executive manager and provides top level management which includes, but is not limited to, operational oversight in the areas of security, custody and control, personnel administration (i.e., hiring, separation, discipline and promotion of staff), purchasing, policy and procedures interpretation/formulation, collective bargaining administration, general services, and accounting/budget matters within the institution.
  • The Warden shall be responsible for the incarceration, protection of society and control of offenders assigned to the Correctional Institution and for the proper operation of the institution.
  • The Warden will initiate and oversee the Offender Operational Plan.
  • The Warden makes recommendations through the Regional Director for changes to existing policy or procedure or implementation of new policy or procedure by identifying institutional needs and attempting to meet such needs.
  • The Warden is also responsible for maintaining the accreditation of the institution with the American Correctional Association.
