The Health and Wellness Specialist provides needs assessments to clients and performs duties relating to case management including providing training and linkage to community resources, assisting clients in obtaining supportive services, including recreational activities and increasing social support networks within client’s recovery pathway and assists individuals in performing daily living activities. May include group facilitating.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Health and Wellness Specialist performs an integral role in carrying out the mission of The Counseling Center, Inc., by performing the following duties:


Develops and maintains an individual caseload of clients within the agency population that are interested in health, fitness, and wellness as a pathway to recovery across all Levels of Care.
Assesses needs of client, including their personal capabilities and motivation level to engage in Health and Wellness services.
Assists in obtaining supportive services to aid the client in their personal goals in recovery through the services of the agency or through referral to other agencies or programs. Assist clients in accessing community resources and provides supportive services as appropriate.
Provides group and individual services to engage, educate, and increase self-efficacy in monitoring sleep, hydration, nutrition, and physical activity to support long term recovery and engage in healthy lifestyle alternatives to drugs and alcohol.
Works with clients to develop a long-term, sustainable plan to manage physical wellness in a way that supports current client placement, future goals of the client population, and overall abstinence and sobriety.
Provides education and explores with clients the various interventions and activities included in the health, fitness, and wellness as a pathway to recovery.
Facilitates a minimum of 3 classes per week within their respective discipline.
Provides written documentation of client activity and periodic written updates to maintain compliance with requirement/standards and provide documentation for billing of services.


 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

Secondary functions are duties, which are not exclusive of the position, can be performed by other positions; however, secondary duties are to be performed for the efficiency of The Counseling Center, Inc.
QualificationsCOMPETENCIES


Ability to complete all documentation in accordance with agency policy.
Effective time management/organizational skills.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, INCLUDING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE


High School Diploma or equivalent, Behavioral Science Degree preferred.
Nationally recognized credential or certificate in a health, fitness, and/or wellness discipline.
Knowledge of alcoholism and other addictions, experience with 12-Step Recovery Program preferred.
Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to maintain insurability preferred.
Maintain CPR/First Aid treatment.
Maintains applicable agency trainings.
