How You’ll Help Us Connect the World

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be part of a team in the Comsearch business unit that is responsible for the development of several software platforms. You will work closely with Product Line Management, Quality Assurance and Operations to build robust software applications that support multiple business units. This role will be based in Sterling, VA.

 

You Will Make an Impact By

• Developing functional and appealing web- and mobile-based applications based on usability
• Providing website maintenance and enhancements
• Ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
• Following functional requirement documents and specifications
• Assisting other developers with feature planning and development
• Creating robust validation of user input.
• Maintaining UX standards and branding throughout the product’s interface
• Staying up-to-date on emerging technologies
• Promoting usability standard processes
• Collaborating with other team members and stakeholders

 

Required Qualifications for Consideration

• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s (upcoming sophomores, juniors & seniors) or master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited university
• Proven strong academic performer with a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Experience with UI tools and frameworks such as ReactJS, VueJS, Webpack, Parcel
• Extensive experience building web applications using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+)
• Knowledge of CSS and how to control and customize layouts
• Experience working with a relational database such as Oracle, Postgres or MySQL, including schema design as well as SQL
• Understanding of the entire web application development process, including design, development and deployment, with some back-end knowledge
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship

• Have knowledge of AWS architecture, design, and implementation
• Have experience with Agile/Scrum development, open source projects, responsive and adaptive design
• Possess a firm grasp of SEO / SEM standard processes
• Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
• Show innovation through unique ideas and propose them to the team
• Are able to prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously and optimally meet deadlines
• Have strategic and creative thinking; distinguished written and verbal communications skills
• Possess strong initiative; a self-starter with analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Have experience working in a fast-paced environment and flexible to changing priorities
