Job Description
To clean assigned areas of the college so that a safe, healthy, and attractive learning environment is available.
To lock and unlock rooms and doors as assigned so that security is maintained.
To report any, and all safety hazards so that a safe environment will be maintained.
Other duties may be assigned so that the building is maintained. This includes snow removal that may involve shoveling, salting, and snow blowing entries to college as well as take down and put up set-ups and strip and wax floors during summer break or as needed.
Salary Range:
$20.21 - $25.05/hour
(DOQ – Salary Placement will be done at time of hire.)
The shift differential for employees working before 6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M. shall be two dollars and twenty-five cents ($2.25) per hour for all hours worked before 6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents, and equipment.
Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
Ability to:
Follow simple oral and written instructions.
Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
Keep simple records.
Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform the following work functions:
- Standing, walking, pulling, pushing, simple and firm grasping, stooping, crouching, squatting, using field of vision, depth perception, lifting above waist to chest, lifting below waist, reaching, carrying, pushing, repetitive foot and arm motion, twisting/pivoting, climbing, fine manipulation).
- Lift 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/orcarrying of objects - such as 50-pound bags.
- Walk or stand for a significant portion of the work shift.
Must possess a current/valid driver's license with a good or acceptable driving record. This is required in order to drive campus vehicles.
Preferred Qualification
Operate and make minor repairs to simple maintenance equipment.
Previous maintenance/cleaning experience.
Previous experience with snow removal including spreading chloride and operating powered snow removal equipment is preferred.
The applicant (the employee) should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
Human relations skills sufficient to work cooperatively and efficiently with coworkers, college staff, students, and the general public.
