Position Title: Expanded Learning Programs (EXLP) - Summer Program Instructor
Reports To: Program Coordinator
Purpose: Expanded learning programs are structured educational opportunities that occur during the summer, combining academic support, enrichment activities, and skill-building to enhance students’ overall learning and development. The purpose of the Summer Program Instructor is to provide a safe, supportive, engaging, and interactive learning environment for students, in alignment with the Expanded Learning Program's 12 quality standards during the Summer program. The ideal candidate is creative, energetic, and passionate about education and youth development. Commitment to a seasonal/temporary position, continuous youth development, and connection to our communities and families are our top priorities.
Benefits:
- Pay rate: $23 - $25 an hour, based on regional grant funding and experience
- Full-time, seasonal/temporary position
- 40 hours per week, Starting June 11, 2026 - July 24, 2026
- Weekly Schedule, Monday-Friday, from 8:00 am-5:00 pm
- Seasonal/temporary positions will not receive the 2 paid holidays that occur during the Summer Program
- Above is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience/education, skillset, and geographic location.
Qualifications:
- Must have an a) Associate Degree or higher, or b) 48 college units, or c) pass the Instructional Aide exam
- Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance
- Must be able to work everyday (M-F) during the summer program
- Must have previous experience working with kids and the ability to independently lead and supervise up to 20 students while playing, doing homework, and implementing enrichment activities.
- Must be able to communicate openly, professionally, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Will be expected to complete all mandated training (Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, SEL PQA etc.)
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and be capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with students and families
- Basic English reading proficiency to support students' academic development, enrichment offerings, and school day alignment

- Lesson Preparation and delivery - Creates relevant lesson plans and demonstrates effective time management, provides clear instructions, and facilitates activities with fidelity.
- Continuous Quality Improvement - Engages in a data-driven program quality improvement process; uses assessment and reflection data to inform academic instruction, literacy activities, and small group
- Youth Skill Development and Positive Peer Interactions - Encourages participants to engage in meaningful group work and collaboration throughout lessons and activities; promotes positive peer interactions and a culture of learning
