About the role

Position Summary

The Director, Office of the Secretary will oversee and manage all administrative operations in the Office of the Secretary. Support the Secretary and General Counsel, Deputy General Counsels and Associate Secretaries, and any other designees responsible for the University Senate in the Office of General Counsel (‘Designees”) tasked to support Board of Trustees and University Senate matters.

 

Principal duties include:

 

  • Support the Secretary and General Counsel and Designees with Office of the Secretary duties relating to the Board of Trustees: ensure smooth functioning of all Board of Trustees operations; oversee the management, planning and efficient operation of all meetings of the Board of Trustees and Committees of the Board of Trustees
  • Support the General Counsel and Designees with Office of the Secretary duties with relating to the University Senate: coordinate the planning and efficient operation of all meetings of the University Senate,
  • Supervise activities of the Office to support the operations of the Board of Trustees and University Senate

 

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's Degree in business or public administration, or related areaPreferred Education:Master's Degree in business or public administration, or related area.Required Experience:5+ years relevant experience (preferably in an academic or corporate environment) or equivalent combination. Must include experience planning and implementing various activities and special events, demonstrated ability or experience in managing support staff, developing and implementing office policies, and administering budgets and operations.Preferred Experience:N/ARequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Intelligence, flexibility, and creativity. Proven ability to handle multiple priorities under deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills. Ability to develop, implement, and interpret policies and procedures and effectively communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to a diverse population. Good judgment, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and ability to maintain confidences are essential. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Ability to be creative and flexible in response to complex work situations.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:N/A

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,000.00 to USD $125,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
