Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior Trader will handle all trading and merchandising activities linked to the Sunflower crush business in Spain, such as seeds sourcing/origination, merchandising of meal and crude oil. The Senior Trader will be accountable of the local margin management (Reus crush), being involved in feed, food and biodiesel markets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Handle supplier’s and customer’s bases and fulfill purchasing, selling, delivering commodities that meet production requirements and specifications in terms of timing, volume, quantity and cost.
  • Monitor and review daily cash, futures and Forex positions. Risk management
  • Give support to Refined Oil Europe team (vegetable oil prices indications and market view)
  • Alignment with Cargill offices 
  • Supply/demand for seeds, meal and oils in Iberia
  • Collaborate with transportation and logistics, quality assurance, customer managers and credit manager to ensure efficient execution.
  • Originate, procure and sell commodities and livestock to regional customers to reach target volumes and gain revenue.
  • Generate market, position and profit and loss reports based on data and specialty reports gathered by junior team members.
  • Research and analyze various freight opportunities in the marketplace to maximize margin.
  • Work directly with customers, suppliers and business counterparts to develop business solutions to meet their needs.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Fluent level of English and Spanish

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in agricultural engineering/agronomy or business
