Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, Research & Early Pipeline Communications, the Senior Director, Research Communications, Neuro, ICV, & Integrative Sciences, will lead research and early pipeline communications efforts across BMS’ Neuroscience, Immunology & Cardiovascular (ICV), and Integrative Sciences portfolios. Additionally, the Senior Director will ensure a consistent and differentiated communications approach for external scientific collaborations and platform innovations aligned with enterprise and business priorities.
Responsibilities include leading communications around early asset data and regulatory milestones, partner announcements, medical congresses, scientific forums, and speaking opportunities for research leaders. The role will drive earned, owned, and paid media strategies with an emphasis on creative storytelling and thought leadership that strengthens Bristol Myers Squibb’s reputation as a global scientific leader in Neuro, ICV, and Integrative Sciences. This position requires strong collaboration across Corporate Affairs and close partnership with Research, Medical, Development, Commercial, Investor Relations, and agency partners.
The Senior Director will also contribute to the integrated communications planning for the broader Research organization within Corporate Affairs, ensuring alignment across therapeutic areas and platforms and supporting enterprise-wide scientific narratives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead communications strategy for the Neuro, ICV, and Integrative Sciences research portfolios in partnership with Research leadership and the Executive Director, aligning external trends, competitive insights, and scientific advancements with BMS’ research strategy to set priorities and direct integrated communications execution.
Develop and implement integrated communications plans to elevate the visibility of the Early Pipeline within Neuro, ICV, and Integrative Sciences, strengthening BMS’ scientific profile and leadership positioning.
Conceptualize and oversee development of compelling content highlighting key targets, pathways, platform innovations, and thematic areas aligned to the current and emerging pipeline.
Partner with internal stakeholders to prepare for disclosures at medical meetings, earnings announcements, scientific collaborations, and other key milestones, including prioritization and messaging alignment.
Collaborate closely with Corporate Affairs colleagues supporting Development and Commercial to ensure cohesive, enterprise-aligned communications plans across lifecycle stages and major events such as medical congresses.
Drive multi-channel communications strategies across earned, owned, paid, and digital platforms; oversee agency partners and internal teams to ensure timely, accurate execution and robust measurement and reporting.
Set communications strategy with a global and enterprise lens, equipping international colleagues with messaging frameworks, content, and resources to effectively engage local stakeholders.
Support seamless transition of pipeline assets from early research through development stages, ensuring narrative continuity and strategic alignment.
Manage external agency relationships to ensure high-quality execution, strong strategic counsel, and appropriate budget oversight and tracking.
Lead and influence cross-functional teams within a highly matrixed organization, fostering collaboration, alignment, and accountability.
